Art Exhibition

The hallways and gallery spaces of our school are transformed into an art museum, showcasing the creative works of 65 student artists in the annual art exhibition. Coordinated by Art Department Chair Ms. Emma Johnson, the exhibition features 120+ pieces spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, and mixed media.

## Exhibition Highlights

**Painting and Drawing:**
- Realistic oil portraits by seniors Sarah Thompson and Marcus Johnson
- Abstract acrylics exploring color and emotion by junior Isabella Martinez
- Detailed pencil drawings of architectural subjects by sophomore Kevin O'Brien
- Watercolor landscapes capturing local scenery by various students
- Charcoal figure drawings from life drawing classes

**Sculpture and 3D Art:**
- Clay sculptures by ceramics students, including functional pottery and sculptural pieces
- Wire and mixed-media sculptures by Alex Rodriguez (Grade 10)

## Student Artist Reception

The opening reception drew 400 visitors including families, students, faculty, and community members. Student artists were present to discuss their work and creative processes. The art department served refreshments while a student string quartet provided live music.

"Seeing students explain their artistic choices and creative journey is incredibly rewarding," noted Ms. Johnson. "Art teaches students to see the world differently and express ideas visually."

## Community Impact

Local art museum director attended reception and invited student work for youth exhibition at museum. Three student pieces selected for display in community bank's public art program.

**Location:** Main hallway galleries and art wing
**Viewing:** Open during school hours through end of school year
**Public viewing:** Weekday afternoons 3:00-4:30 PM by appointment
